Russia plans to retaliate against US sanctions
(VOVWORLD) - The Russian government on Monday called the latest US sanctions against Russia “scandalous” and “illegal” and vowed it will retaliate and protect individuals targeted by Washington’s measures.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ordered the cabinet to start drawing up a list of potential retaliatory measures. He also ordered that a plan be worked out to support sanctioned companies in the metallurgy industry, energy, and defense. Medvedev called the US’s latest sanctions “protectionist measures” which boost US trade benefits in violation of current trade regulations. He said these sanctions will hinder Russia’s activities in the global market.
