(VOVworld) – Russia submitted its draft Syria resolution to the UN Security Council on Friday, in which Russia said it endorses the ceasefire in Syria and peace negotiations to take place in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Russia's UN ambassador Vitaly Churkin said Russia hopes to win the Council’s support. The Council is working on this document in close-door meetings.
Syria ceasefire, agreed by the Syrian government and 7 opposition groups, began to take effect on midnight Friday but was soon violated. Observers said the ceasefire could be a landmark in resolving the 6-year Syrian war.
