Significant casualties from latest earthquake in China

Hundreds of people were killed or injured Saturday when a strong earthquake struck China’s southwestern Sichuan province. Thousands of emergency workers struggled to clear mountain roads blocked by the landslides to reach survivors. According to the latest report, there have been 186 deaths and 21 persons are still missing. The earthquake injured more than 11,000 people. The National Meteorological Center of China forecasts that in the next two days, rain and flooding may occur in the areas affected by the earthquake, causing greater difficulties for rescue teams.
