Singapore President begins State visit to Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) -Singapore President Halimah Yacob on Sunday began a State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

This is the first foreign trip by President Yacob since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The visit takes place with the two countries anticipating 50 years of their diplomatic relations and 10 years of their strategic partnership in 2023.

Ms Yacob is scheduled to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, hold talks with President Phuc, and pay courtesy visits to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. She will visit Bac Ninh province and Ho Chi Minh City.
