(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese Party, State and people always care for workers, the pioneers in Vietnam’s revolution, said Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the 12th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in Hanoi on Tuesday.

"In the new revolutionary period, the working class remains the revolutionary leaders pioneered by the Communist Party of Vietnam. It also represents the modern production method, leads in building socialism, and serves as the central force of an alliance of workers, farmers, and intellectuals. The growth of the working class is a prerequisite factor in ensuring the success of national industrialization and modernization. So, building a strong working class is the responsibility of the Party, state, and people," Party leader Trong said.
Mr. Trong stressed the importance of improving workers’ political stance; protecting workers’ rights and legal interests; and reforming trade union activities to suit the new period and requirements.
"I hope that the trade union and workers’ movement will progress and contribute to implementing the Party Congress’s resolutions. The working class will uphold its pioneering role, solidarity, creativity, and work with the Party and people in national construction and defense," Mr. Trong elaborated.
Bui Van Cuong, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, said the Vietnam Trade Union will focus more on members’ interests and improving its role as their representative, increase communications and training for Vietnamese workers, and implement resolutions of the 12th Party congress.
