(VOVWORLD) - The US - EU Summit held in Washington, US on Friday set out the vision as well as the tasks that the two sides will carry out in the coming time, which can impact the world economic and political situation.

President Joe Biden, European Council President Charles Michel, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and other officials attended the event.
A 34-point joint statement was issued at the summit, covering a number of issues, including the protection of civilians in the conflict in the Middle East, the complicated situation in Ukraine, security, maritime safety, and freedom of navigation in the Pacific Ocean.
The Summit reaffirmed the US and EU’s unwavering support for ASEAN centrality and unity and their commitment to promoting cooperation in line with the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.
Regarding economic cooperation, the two sides agreed to detail cooperation in the field of electric vehicle production and electric vehicle batteries at meetings in the next few weeks. The US and EU also affirmed their efforts to promote a digital ecosystem that is open, free, able to interact reliably and competitively, and exploit the advantages of artificial intelligence (AI).
