(VNN) – Ho Chi Minh city people’s court has convicted 3 defendants for anti-government propaganda.

Defendants Nguyen Van Hai born in 1952 in Hai Phong, Ta Phong Tan born in 1968 in Bac Lieu and Phan Thanh Hai born in 1969 in Hanoi were sentenced under Article 88 of the 1999 Criminal Code for their serious distortion of the Vietnamese state, seriously affecting national security and Vietnam’s image in international community. Nguyen Van Hai was sentenced to 12 years in prisons and 5 years under home arrest. Ta Phong Tan received 10 years in prison and 3 years under home arrest and Phan Thanh Hai got 4 years in prison and 3 years under home arrest.
