(VOVworld) –Representatives from Phnom Penh City Hall, 6 trade unions and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights held a close meeting on Friday to find solutions to the demonstrations of workers in garment and textile sector.

UN's OHCHR Representative in Cambodia Wan-Hea Lee said the related parties need to find out ways to prevent possible violence. But he said this is only an initial discussion without reaching any official solutions. Meanwhile, the trade unions asked the authorities to release the demonstrators arrested on Thursday and stop using military force to deal with the demonstration.

In another development, some independent political analysts in Cambodia on Friday sent letters to Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni asking the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) to meet and negotiate to put an end to the current chaos in the country. In the letter, 3 Cambodian prestigious intellectuals Lao Mong Hay, Sok Touch and Kem Lee said the failure to solve political issues through negotiation between CPP and CNRP revoked violence between laborers and military force causing great casualties.
