Participants offered incense in tribute to Nguyen Binh Khiem, a renowned 16th-century Vietnamese Confucian scholar, educator, poet, and prophetic politician. Artisans  performed calligraphy on the beauty of the art of producing beautiful writing.

Afterwards, teachers and students wrote the first calligraphy with the theme "Achieving academic success, passing exams, and possessing a sharp mind". Chu Van Hieu from Hung Yen province came to the temple to ask for auspicious calligraphy for his daughter at the beginning of the year.

“I brought my daughter here to offer incense and pray for her studies, hoping she will uphold the tradition of studiousness of the Vietnamese people. Besides asking for good fortune from the scholar, she wished for good luck in her studies and success in her exams,” Hieu said.
