The Russian official emphasized the role of direct negotiations in resolving the Ukraine conflict, amid the possibility of the resumption of trilateral consultations in Geneva, Switzerland.
Dmitriev’s remarks followed Fox News interview with US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, who said that in their meetings, Russian President Vladimir Putin had been “straight” with him about his red lines and motivations.
Witkoff said he has met with President Putin eight times, adding that understanding Russia's position, motives, and goals is essential to reaching a lasting agreement. According to Russian media, talks on the Russia-Ukraine conflict could resume this week in Switzerland.
