The event was held at a museum in Asheboro, North Carolina. In his speech, Trump focused on the job market, warning that the US could lose millions of jobs if his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, wins in November. At one point, Trump left the podium to ask about the health of an event participant who had health problems.

Trump's outdoor campaigning resumed just one day after Kamala Harris was officially named the Democratic presidential nominee at her party's national convention in Chicago, Illinois.

Since the assassination attempt, Trump has held eight rallies, all indoors at the urging of the Secret Service. However, on August 15, the Washington Post reported, the Secret Service approved a new security plan that would allow Trump to resume outdoor campaigning.
