After his meeting with Turkey's EU Affairs Minister Volkan Bozkir, EU Vice President Frans Timmermans told reporters that the numbers are still too high in Greece, between 2 000 - 3000 people arriving every day. He stressed the need for Ankara to implement immediate measures to reduce the flow.

In another development, Italian coastguards announced that the body of a woman in her 30s was recovered from the rocks near Capo di Leuca in Puglia. Another 37 refugees who were on board made it to shore safely or were scooped out of the water alive by rescuers.
