Typhoon Talim: Health Ministry requests not to interrupt medical treatment, airports close

(VOVWORLD) -On Tuesday morning, the eye of typhoon Talim was swirling in the northeast of the Gulf of Tonkin, about 140 km southeast of Mong Cai city, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health sent a telegram to the Departments of Health of the provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Nghe An and health units in the northern and central regions.

The Ministry requests around the clock professional duty and emergency duty and preparedness to deploy emergency service for victims caused by rain and storms without interruption.

Coastal provinces and mountainous areas review plans for flood and storm prevention and control as well as plans to protect medical facilities in low-lying areas at risk of inundation and landslide, according to the telegram.

Meanwhile, the Northern Airport Authority decided to close airports on Tuesday, including at Noi Bai (Hanoi), Van Don (Quang Ninh), and Cat Bi (Hai Phong) as typhoon Talim is raging. Noi Bai Airport stops receiving incoming/outgoing aircraft from 11am to 8pm, and Van Don and Cat Bi airports from 9am to 7pm.
