The bill repeals the 1972 law which made Britain a member of the European Union and replace EU rules with British rules. The bill has been sent to the House of Lords for further debate.

Jean-Claude Junker, European Commission President, said he would welcome UK staying after the Brexit negotiations. His words followed European Council President Donald Tusk’s statement that the EU will keep all options open if the UK wants to change its mind.
