(VOVWORLD) - Bac Ninh province on Friday received UNESCO’s certificate recognizing the inscription of Dong Ho folk woodblock printing on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.

The craft, practiced in Dong Ho village, involves creating colorful prints using hand-carved wooden blocks. The themes often depict worship, history, daily life and landscapes, with the entire process carried out by hand.
“We will continue to improve mechanisms and policies to support communities and artisans involved in this craft,” Chairman of the Bac Ninh provincial People’s Committee Pham Hoang Son said.

“At the same time, we will promote training and the transmission of traditional skills, integrate heritage education into schools, enhance public awareness of heritage values, and diversify products while expanding markets, with the aim of having the heritage recognized on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”
Also at the ceremony, Bac Ninh announced the Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son-Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes as a World Cultural Heritage site.
