(VOVWORLD) -The White House said on Friday that President Donald Trump signed an executive order removing a broad range of farm goods from his reciprocal tariffs, cutting duties on beef, coffee, chocolate, bananas, tomatoes, oranges and several other items.
The move is part of a push by the Trump administration to drive down the cost of living for Americans.
Analysts say voters have grown more frustrated with rising grocery costs after Trump’s tariff rules came into effect. That discontent has been viewed as one factor behind recent Democratic victories in state and local races in Virginia, New Jersey and New York City.
The US earlier outlined new framework trade deals that scrap duties on selected foods and other imports from Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala and El Salvador.
