The election will decide 36 senators, 36 state governors, and all 435 members of the US House of Representatives, as well as the scale of President Obama’s power in the final 2 years of his presidency. The latest surveys suggest the Republican Party will likely continue to control the House of Representatives, where they already have a 233 to 199 seat advantage over the Democrats. In the US Senate, the number of Republican seats may increase to 52, which would wrest control of that chamber from the Democrats.
