(VOVWORLD) - The US military intensified airstrikes in Somalia in the past week, killing at least 17 Al-Shabaab terrorists after their deadly attacks in African countries including Kenya.

In 2 separate statements on Monday, the US Africa Command said its forces killed 4 terrorists approximately 25 km west of Mogadishu on Wednesday evening and destroyed a car full of explosives, preventing it from being used in terrorist attacks in Mogadishu.
Earlier, 13 terrorists were killed in southern Somalia.
