"This step will facilitate our joint efforts to promote stability, support economic recovery, and advance political reconciliation in Venezuela," the State Department said in a statement.
The US is also seeking to expand economic cooperation with Venezuela, particularly in the energy and mining sectors. US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said on Thursday during a two-day visit to Venezuela that the interim authorities have pledged security assurances to foreign mining companies interested in investing in the country.
