The two sides discussed cooperation in oil and gas, mining, and power generation projects aimed at revitalizing Venezuela’s economy while advancing Washington’s strategic interests.
Rodríguez said a sustainable energy partnership could serve as a catalyst for improving diplomatic relations between the two countries. Secretary Chris Wright said that the US is prepared to support Venezuela in significantly increasing crude oil and natural gas production this year through business licensing and the attraction of new investment.
US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright said, "This year, we can drive a dramatic increase in Venezuelan oil production, in Venezuelan natural gas production, in Venezuelan electricity production to increase the job opportunities, the wages, and the quality of life for all of the Venezuelans across the country. It will also enormously benefit the US and the Western Hemisphere and the future partnership for all of us."
Wright’s visit comes as the Trump administration presses private companies to help restore production in Venezuela, home to the world’s largest oil reserves. Although investors remain cautious about political reforms, both Washington and Caracas expressed confidence that outstanding disagreements can be resolved through dialogue, paving the way for sustainable development across the Western Hemisphere.
