(VOVWORLD) - A US defense official said Monday that US forces and their allies in Syria came under missile attack, just one day after a drone attack in Jordan that resulted in the deaths of three US soldiers.

The missiles targeted the Shaddadi Patrol Base in Syria, where US and coalition forces are stationed. No injuries or infrastructure damage were reported.
The US has 900 troops stationed in Syria and 2,500 troops in Iraq, part of an international coalition against ISIS, a jihadist organization that once held a significant amount of territory in Syria and Iraq.
