The US and China are getting very close to making a deal, Trump said ahead of a White House meeting with Chinese trade envoy Liu He, adding that progress is being made at a very rapid pace. Trump expressed optimism that the deal may take as little as 2 weeks to finish, which could pave a way for a summit between him and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Talks are continuing in Washington where Chinese Vice Premier Liu He began meetings with US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Wednesday.
