(VOVWORLD) -Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said he is ready to negotiate with the United States on cooperation in combating drug trafficking. Maduro's statement comes amid a recent US ground attack on a Venezuelan port.
“The US government knows, because we’ve told many of their spokespeople, that if they want to seriously discuss an agreement to combat drug trafficking, we’re ready,” President Maduro said in an interview broadcast on state television on Friday.
He declined to comment on an alleged ground attack on a docking facility long Venezuela's shoreline last week, which some media reports said was conducted by the CIA. The CIA declined to comment and did not confirm any involvement.
