This year's Ao Dai Week is expected to create a ripple effect in the community and arouse the responsibility to preserve Vietnamese cultural heritage. The Women's Union of provinces or cities and individuals have responded to the event with creative and practical activities such as wearing ao dai at work in accordance with the conditions and job characteristics and ao dai parades on March 8, the International Women's Day.

Addressing the launch ceremony, President of the Vietnam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga said that the Vietnam Ao Dai Week aims to evoke love, pride, and responsibility for promoting the costume. It also aims to introduce the Vietnamese culture and people and Vietnamese women in particular to international friends.

“The Vietnam Women's Union wishes to contribute to inspiring and spreading meaningful and positive messages about love, national pride, the country, people and Vietnamese ao dai to the public. We hope ao dai will soon recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage and even a world cultural heritage. Let's work together to widely spread the image of ao dai,” Nga said.

The performance night featured the best collections by Do Trinh Hoai Nam and more than 50 domestic designers. Among the attendees were foreign ambassadors' wives wearing traditional Vietnamese ao dai.
