(VOVworld) -  Representatives from Vietnam’s Consular Department of the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday sent a diplomatic note to Thai Embassy in Hanoi after it emerged that Thai functional forces had required Vietnamese travelers to present cash before entering Thailand.


The note stated that Vietnam has yet to receive an official announcement about the new rule. Vietnam is the only ASEAN country which has had this rule imposed on it and it is not in accordance with ASEAN’s spirit of cooperation and the traditional relations between Vietnam and Thailand. Vietnam’s Consular Department of Foreign Ministry asked Thailand to put an end to this unwelcome rule and continue to ease exit and entry procedure among the two peoples.
