Vietnam calls for swift global action to address crises in Gaza, Middle East
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam calls for an immediate and lasting ceasefire across the entire Gaza Strip, said a senior Vietnamese diplomat at a UN session this week.

Minister Counselor and Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN Nguyen Hoang Nguyen reaffirmed Vietnam’s principled and consistent stance on the Palestine issue at an Emergency Special Session of the UN General Assembly held in New York from June 13 to 18 to discuss the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Mr. Nguyen stressed the urgent need to ensure unimpeded and uninterrupted humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, as well as the indispensable role of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East in delivering essential support and services to Palestinian civilians.

Vietnam consistently supports a two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions, said Mr. Nguyen.
During the session, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for the protection of civilians and compliance with international humanitarian law in Gaza. Vietnam co-sponsored and voted in favor of the resolution.
