(VOVworld) – Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong began an official visit to China on Tuesday at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

After the welcoming ceremony, the two leaders agreed on a number of major moves to consolidate trust, strengthen friendship, and promote cooperation for mutual benefit. Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping said: “I welcome Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the Vietnamese delegation to visit China. China wants to work with Vietnam to develop our comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in a sustainable way. I want to discuss issues of mutual concern with Mr. Trong.”

For his part, Mr. Trong said: “I thank Party leader Xi Jinping for inviting me and a high-level Vietnamese delegation to visit China and for giving us a fraternal welcome. I’m glad to visit China and witness its growth and the joy and optimism of the Chinese people.”
