At the reception, Chairman Hue proposed Mayor Anna Kaisa Ikonen to encourage more Finnish businesses to take advantage of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement to boost bilateral trade between the two countries. Mr. Hue said that Vietnam wants to attract more foreign investment to welcome the shift of supply chains and seize opportunities to recover the economy in the post-pandemic. He said Vietnam wants to strengthen cooperation with Finland in high technology, telecommunication, renewable energy, environment, water treatment, IT, construction, and smart urban management.

Talking with businesses in Tempere, Chairman Hue said Vietnam aims to promote the startup and innovation ecology and has implemented several incentives to mobilize resources from domestic businesses and encourage foreign businesses’ participation.

He said Vietnam is fine-tuning its legal corridor to make the business environment more favorable and safe for foreign investors.

At a meeting with leaders of Siemens Energy AG the same day in Helsinki, Chairman Hue praised the group’s success in Vietnam and asked the group to increase its investment in Vietnam’s energy projects.
