Speaking at a ceremony in Havana on Monday to mark the 65th anniversary of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relations, the Ambassador reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent stance in supporting Cuba, calling for the removal of unilateral blockade and embargo measures against Cuba and for Cuba to be removed from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism.
He expressed confidence that bilateral relations will continue to advance into a new stage, focusing on economic, trade, and investment cooperation, renewable energy, digital transformation, biotechnology and healthcare, tourism, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
On the same day in Havana, Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang and Cuba’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Deborah Rivas Saavedra co-chaired the first meeting of the Joint Committee for the Implementation of the Vietnam-Cuba Trade Agreement.
Both sides agreed to introduce favorable mechanisms and policies to address existing obstacles, especially payment issues, to facilitate the business and investment activities of Vietnamese enterprises in Cuba.
