(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery export value totals a record 70 billion USD in 2025, a significant achievement highlighted by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien at a conference in Can Tho city on Monday to review the sector’s performance in 2025 and outline key tasks for 2026.

To achieve further growth, Tien said the agricultural sector—particularly fisheries—needs new production, harvesting, and processing methods, expand markets, and accelerate digital transformation.

He underscored the importance of circular agriculture, high-tech, food safety, and product traceability transparency. “Vietnam earned 11.3 billion USD from seafood exports this year, a commendable result amid global economic downturn,” according to Tien.

Seafood exports to the US exceeded 1.8 billion USD, including 800 million USD from shrimp, 300 million USD from tuna, and 300 million USD from pangasius. The European market, which in previous years stood at just 5.4 billion USD, is expected to reach 9 billion USD this year. Tra fish production is estimated to be 1.6–1.7 million tons, with an export value of 2.1 billion USD.

According to the Vietnam Pangasius Association, as of November 2025, Vietnam’s tra export turnover had surpassed the 2 billion USD mark, up 9% year-on-year. The US and the EU remain the two key markets, but Brazil recorded a breakthrough growth rate of 51%.
