(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam National Mine Action Center (VNMAC) held a conference in Hanoi on Tuesday to mobilize resources for post-war mine and explosive ordnance clearance efforts across the country.

In his address, Deputy Minister of National Defense Hoang Xuan Chien called on relevant agencies to develop a new scientific, effective, and practical National Mine Action Program.
He urged completing the draft Ordinance on Mine Action and more favorable legal documents to encourage domestic and international organizations to participate mine clearance efforts.
General Chien also stressed the need to strengthen communications and education to raise public awareness of mine safety and enhance international cooperation to accelerate mine clearance nationwide.

On this occasion, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Vietnam and Peace Trees Vietnam (PTVN) were awarded the Friendship Order by the Vietnamese President. In addition, three international organizations, 19 collectives, and seven individuals received Certificates of Merit of the Prime Minister for their significant contributions to mine clearance efforts in Vietnam between 2006 and 2022.
