Vietnam government facilitates operations of the Protestant Church

(VOVworld) – The Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has said that the government of Vietnam always tries to create the best possible conditions for the Vietnam protestant Church, the northern region.

Nhan worked with head of the church, Pastor Nguyen Huu Mac on the occasion of its 34th General Assembly, scheduled for early next month. Pastor Mac congratulated Nhan on his election as Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and pledged the Protestant Church’s contribution to the Front’s movements and charity programs. He said that at its 34th General Assembly the Protestant Church will discuss unifying its northern and southern branches.

Nhan praised the Vietnam Protestant Church, the northern region’s contributions in recent years and said that the government and the Vietnam Fatherland front always try to facilitate its operations and ensure that all protestants lead a good religious and secular life.

The Vietnam Protestant Church, the northern region represents approximately 150,000 Protestants in 27 provinces in northern Vietnam. The northern region now has close to 1,000 protestant groups, 650 of which have had their legal status recognized.
