The conference approved a regional investment framework (RIF) with more than 200 projects in 10 areas to implement more effectively the projects in the sub-regions. The RIF is an open investment framework, updated every year, based on which the Asian Development Bank seeks financial aid for GMS countries. The RIF has an estimated capitalization of 50 to 60 billion USD.
Addressing the conference, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen The Phuong stressed that the approval of the RIF is a milestone in the GMS cooperation framework for 2012-2020. He asked related parties to increase cooperation to foster the group’s connectivity.
Vietnam is willing to cooperate with other GMS countries, development partners, the private business sector, and relevant parties to achieve the GMS’s vision and goals and reach the region’s targets.
