Vietnam, Laos target 10 billion USD in trade growth

(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary To Lam proposed that the Vietnamese and Laos Prime Ministers continue directing relevant agencies of each country to closely coordinate and actively implement the commitments and agreements reached by high-level leaders.

At a meeting with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on Monday,  Mr. Lam said the two countries should promote economic cooperation, accelerate the implementation of key cooperation projects especially in the fields of transport and energy, striving to achieve a trade growth target of 5 billion USD, and moving toward the goal of 10 billion USD in the coming years.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone affirmed that Laos will create more favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises investing in the country, while improving the investment environment in a substantive manner.

At a meeting with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Laos the same day, General Secretary To Lam asked the Embassy and Vietnam’s representative agencies in Laos to create the best conditions to promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries, support Vietnamese businesses, help Lao enterprises access the Vietnamese market, further improve the well-being of the Vietnamese community in Laos, and work with the community to organize cultural activities and Vietnamese language education for the younger generation.
