(VOVworld) - A four-day conference on cooperation between the Vietnamese and Laos National Assemblies will open in Son La province this Sunday. During a press briefing in Hanoi on Friday, representatives from the National Assembly’s Committee for External Affairs emphasized that this is an extremely important conference, and spotlights Vietnam and Laos Solidarity Friendship Year 2012, marking 50 years of Vietnam-Laotian diplomatic relations. The conference is to strengthen cooperation between both legislative bodies and create more opportunities to boost bilateral relations. At the press briefing, Chairman of the Committee Tran Van Hang said that the special Vietnamese-Laotian relationship is rare in the history of international relations: “This is a significant conference and a highlight of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity Friendship Year 2012. The Party Secretariat and Politburo has approved a project to ensure the successful organization of the conference. The conference will take place in Son La province which shares a border with Laos, and the Laotian People’s Revolutionary Party was originally established there.”
