Vietnam on track to wipe out AIDS by 2030
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is working toward the goal of ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030, officials said at a ceremony Monday in Hanoi launching the 2025 National Press Award on HIV/AIDS held by the Ministry of Health.

Vietnam is currently one of four countries offering the best HIV/AIDS treatment in the world along with Germany, the UK and Switzerland. 96% of patients receiving HIV treatment in Vietnam have achieved viral suppression, greatly reducing transmission rates in the community.
Hoang Minh Duc, Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Ministry of Health, said: “HIV/AIDS prevention is not simply a fight against a virus, but also a battle against fear, stigma, and neglect. It is a struggle to reclaim life, dignity and the future for hundreds of thousands of people. We hope journalists will tell the stories of those affected to spark hope for many others still living in inferiority complex. We urge the media to help transform technical and medical terms into approachable messages that can reach high-risk groups, people living with HIV, and the broader community.”
The 2025 National Press Award on HIV/AIDS is open to all Vietnamese citizens aged from 18, living inside or outside Vietnam. Entries must be published or broadcast between July 10, 2024 and November 20, 2025. Eligible categories include online media, television, and photojournalism.
