(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on Thursday that Vietnam is actively cooperating with UN organizations to implement collaboration activities, particularly in ensuring international security, participating in the UN’s peacekeeping missions in hot spots, transforming to realize the SDGs, and ensuring just energy transition and social equity.

Mr. Chinh was speaking during a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at UN headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
The PM expressed support for the current priorities of the UN Secretary-General, including preparations for the Summit of the Future which is scheduled to be held in 2024, the Initiative on the "New Agenda for Peace", the Plan to promote Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and climate change responses.
He said Vietnam is one of the world’s most vulnerable countries to climate change, natural disasters, drought, flood, landslides, and seawater intrusion, particularly in the Mekong Delta region. Therefore, Vietnam is committed to strong action in green transition and just energy transition. He said developing countries should be prioritized in receiving capital, technology, training, and administration support.
Secretary-General Guterres praised Vietnam's cooperation and support for all UN activities. He shared Vietnam’s stance on upholding multilateralism, bolstering sustainable growth, and reforming international financial architectures to support developing countries.
