The low-altitude economy is expected to bring Vietnam around 10 billion USD, experts said at the Vietnam International Low-Altitude Economy Forum 2025 (VI-LAEF 2025). Vietnam has the potential to become an industrial hub of the world's low-altitude sector, they added.
"Lying at the center of Southeast Asia, Vietnam boasts an advantageous logistic zone. Its political stability and policy of befriending all countries offer a favorable business environment for those who wish to develop UAV technology here. Vietnam is also highly capable in hardware manufacturing and has a developed ecosystem of supporting industries," said Tran Anh Tuan, Vice President of the Vietnam UAV Network.
Low-altitude economy refers to economic activities below 1,000 metres, an under-utilized airspace, by both manned and unmanned aerial vehicles. It relies on aviation technologies, smart low-altitude networks to develop infrastructure, aircraft, air services, and ensure flight safety. Its applications span agriculture, logistics, environmental monitoring, transportation, communication, and entertainment.
The global low-altitude aviation sector is projected to worth 700 billion USD by 2035.
