He was responding to reporters question on Vietnam's stance regarding the US-led air strikes against self proclaimed Islamic State militants in Syria.

During a press briefing on Thursday, Le Hai Binh commented on China’s recent changing of status quo in the East Sea by turning several reefs into artificial islands, including Vietnam’s Gac Ma Reef: “Every activities by related parties in the East Sea must respect relevant countries’ national sovereignty, jurisdiction rights and international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Declaration on the Conducts of Parties in the East Sea and not rendering any actions to complicate the situation. In this context, all sides shall hold responsibility for peace and stability in the East Sea.”

Answering question on possible impact by China’s fire drill in the south of Hainan island on Vietnam’s fishing operation, Binh said Vietnam always has necessary measures to protect fishermen operating normally on their traditional fishing field.
