Vietnam, Thailand pledge stronger cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Thailand and Vietnam have reiterated determination to deepen bilateral cooperation and work more closely within the framework of ASEAN, said spokesperson for the Thai government Anucha Burapachaisri.

The local media quoted Anucha as saying during a phone talk on Friday, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc agreed to consider holding the fourth Vietnam - Thailand Joint Cabinet meeting at an appropriate time when the COVID-19 pandemic is contained to mark the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties. The two Prime Ministers discussed the management of the Mekong river within the Mekong-Lancang cooperation mechanism and enhancement of ASEAN cooperation in preventing COVID-19. Mr. Anucha said at the 37th ASEAN Summit and related meetings hosted by Vietnam, Thailand and Vietnam will discuss the establishment of the ASEAN Center for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases and a regional reserve of medical supplies.
