Vietnam thanks UN Fund for disaster relief

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has received emergency support from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) for the last two years, including a newly announced 2.6 million USD, which has brought timely relief to communities affected by natural disasters, said Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to the United Nations.

The Vietnamese diplomat delivered the remarks at the CERF High-level Pledging Event held by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs at UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, UN members, and international partners attended the event.

Ambassador Viet expressed his gratitude to CERF, UN agencies, and donor countries for their timely and effective aid to Vietnam, and said Vietnam will continue to work with the Fund in a spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility and will contribute to its missions within Vietnam’s capacity and when conditions allows.
