Vietnam to run for a seat at UNESCO World Heritage Committee, says FM

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam will run for a seat at the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the 2023-2027 tenure, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said and expressed his hope to receive support from UNESCO.

At a meeting in Paris on Monday with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, FM Son said Vietnam hopes to receive policy consultations and experience sharing from the organization to assist Vietnam in socio-economic recovery and development.

He suggested that UNESCO considers the strengthening of cooperation with Vietnam in education, sustainable development, climate change response, basic science, sustainable management of water resources, marine scientific research, and conservation and promotion of heritage values.

The UNESCO chief said that her organization will continue to support Vietnam in areas of education, culture, science and information-communications, while assisting Vietnam in preserving and promoting the heritage values as well as sustainably developing biosphere reserves.
