Vinh was one of the main speakers of the 5th annual Asian Architecture Conference held recently by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington. He said the APEC Year 2017 is themed “Creating new dynamism, fostering a joint future” and that the meetings’ outcomes were important preparations for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week to be held in November in Da Nang city.

At the conference, speakers said US President Donald Trump’s intention to participate in APEC summit reaffirms the US’s commitment to the Asian-Pacific region. They also said the region is facing unprecedented challenges from the rise of protectionism, competition between world powers, North Korea and East Sea issues, terrorism, and climate change. The conference called for enhanced cooperation in all fields, particularly economics, trade, and investment.
