Vietnamese, Mozambican parliaments cement ties

(VOVworld) – A delegation from the National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations led by its deputy head Ngo Duc Manh has paid a working visit to Mozambique. In Maputo, the delegation was received by first Deputy Speaker of the Mozambican Assembly Antonio Amelia, held talks with head of its Commission on International Relations Maria Inês, and had working sessions with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Nyeleti Mondlane and head of the Liberation Front’s International Relations Committee Aida Libombo.

During the meetings, both sides informed each other of their countries socio-economic development, and exchanged information about the operations, tasks and roles of the two legislative bodies in national development and in supervising the implementation of foreign policies. Mozambican officials said they are impressed with Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, especially in poverty reduction.

Deputy Speaker Antonio Amelia expressed his hope that Vietnam will continue to share experience in maintaining peace and socio-political stability, building national unity and developing the economy. The two sides also agreed to intensify meetings between NA members in the two countries and at inter-parliamentary forums.
