He said there are 400 Vietnamese students in India, many of whom are monks or nuns.

Nguyen Gia Phuc, a student at Delhi University and a member of the Association’s Executive Board, said that student community is growing because many Vietnamese people are finding India a suitable country they can learn from.

“That’s why establishing an official student association has become urgent. We’re making plans to stage one or two cultural performances at the Embassy's Lunar New Year celebration,” said Phuc.

There are 230,000 Vietnamese students in 49 countries around the world and the Vietnamese Students Association has 16 organizations abroad.
