(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium has hosted a wide range of cultural activities to promote Vietnam’s culture there and to anticipate the 40th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2013. The Embassy has presented the traditional costume for the famous statue called Mannekin-Pis depicting a naked little boy urinating into the fountain's basin in Brussels Town Hall. The Vietnamese costume is the 892nd in the world worn by the iconic boy. Pham Sanh Chau is Vietnamese Ambassador in Belgium: “The Vietnamese community and Embassy in Belgium is glad to present our traditional customs to the statue. The area frequented by many visitors is a symbol of people in Brussels and Belgium in particular.  It gives us an opportunity to promote Vietnam’s image and Vietnamese people’s soul. It’s a combination of eastern and western cultures.”

Mannekin-Pis will be an emissary of Vietnam in Brussels in one day. Then the costume will be preserved at Mannekin-Pis museum.
