Vietnam’s development path gains international confidence
(VOVWORLD) - Former French Ambassador to Vietnam Serge Degallaix said that Vietnam’s policies of modernization, openness, and reform over the past 40 years have proven effective, as reflected in the country’s economic growth rate of over 8% in 2025 and its positive outlook for the period ahead.
Speaking to reporters in Paris, Degallaix highlighted FTSE Russell’s decision to upgrade Vietnam from Frontier Market to Secondary Emerging Market status, effective September 1, 2026.
He noted that the reclassification recognizes Vietnam’s progress and will help facilitate financing for production, investment, and innovation, thereby supporting sustainable economic growth.
According to the former ambassador, the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam is an important occasion for the country to reaffirm its determination to stay the course of its chosen development path and fully leverage existing advantages. The goal, he said, is not only to improve living standards but also to generate greater national wealth, create high-quality jobs, and gradually elevate Vietnam’s position on the international stage.
Amid global uncertainty, the orientations set out by the Congress will continue to position Vietnam as a proactive and responsible partner.
