Vietnam’s e-commerce booms during COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected all socio-economic activities, but its impact has accelerated digital transformation and opened up new opportunities for businesses and consumers to adapt and effectively respond to the new normal, according to a report recently released by the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM).

The boom of e-commerce prompted by the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic from February to April 2020 accelerated the development of online business.

During the fourth wave, from June to September 2021, businesses sped up their digital transformation to adapt to the pandemic and prepare for operating in the new normal, the report said. It added that the fourth wave will boost e-commerce in Vietnam even until 2025.

E-commerce platforms have become an effective sales channel for small and medium-sized enterprises, micro-enterprises, business households, and individuals.
