Vietnam’s Embassy in Ukraine supports Vietnamese community

(VOVworld) – There are 10,000 Vietnamese people who live, work and study in Ukraine. The situation there, particularly in the Eastern provinces, became complicated following the May 25 presidential elections, affecting the lives of Vietnamese people. The Vietnamese embassy met with representatives of the Vietnamese community on Tuesday to encourage them and to answer their queries. Poetess Do Thi Hoa Ly, a member of the Vietnam Arts and Literature Association in Russia, lives in Ukraine: “The Vietnamese embassy has been providing timely support and stands ready to protect Vietnamese nationals. The embassy has worked with Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry on intervention measures to support evacuation after the President opened a migration corridor for people in war zones. The embassy has facilitated Vietnamese children to go home on summer vacation to avoid possible conflict. The embassy has announced a hotline to support Vietnamese people.”

Vietnamese people in Ukraine have organized marches to protest China’s illegal placement of oilrig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone.
