Taking place throughout June and July in 48 cities and provinces, the program will provide communications and counselling for 1 million people about voluntary blood donations and congenital hemolytic disease and is expected to receive at least 120,000 blood units and mobilize at least 8,000 volunteers.

"The Red Journey’s flame was lit at Hung Vuong Square, Bac Lieu province, which is Vietnam’s southernmost province and a locality which is rich in revolutionary tradition. I believe that the compassionate fire of the Red Journey will catch on and spread to all parts of the country," the Director of the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and Head of the Red Journey Organizing Committee, Nguyen Ha Thanh, said.

He expressed his belief that this year's Red Journey program will continue to be successful thanks to the support of the leaders, creativity, enthusiasm and responsibility of the Steering Committees for Voluntary Blood Donation in the provinces and cities, and the cooperation and unanimity of a large number of people from all walks of life across the country.
